The qualifications, knowledge and experience criteria below will be used in shortlisting. Applicants should describe in their application how they meet these criteria.

Excellent knowledge and experience of senior leadership of the Further Education and Adult Skills sector

Track record of successfully leading and managing such provision and of changing and developing the provision

A strong track record of leading the development and delivery of successful operations in education, training and skills

Demonstrable experience of financial management and budgetary control, and proven ability in contract management and business planning, particularly in a service sector environment

Proven ability to operate at a strategic level (board level), leading and embedding change, and driving performance and growth
-
Highly developed political awareness and an understanding of the third sector, the political, economic and social context for work-based and community learning, and the opportunities for innovation

Demonstrable experience of delivering contract compliance and achieving success within Ofsted’s inspection frameworks

Demonstrable experience of managing and raising the bar on business development and performance outcomes

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and evidence of using them to communicate with different audiences

Excellent networking, influencing and negotiating skills, including the ability to collaborate and build partnerships through the development of contacts with senior external stakeholders

Ability to lead, direct, manage and motivate a large and geographically dispersed workforce

Strong project management and performance management skills, and the ability to develop, monitor and evaluate strategies and complex work plans
